Holiday restrictions are used on items to enable players to equip them only for a specific holiday period. Holidays are special events in Team Fortress 2, commonly coinciding with a cultural holiday or birthday celebration.
Items with holiday restrictions will have the restriction denoted in their attributes as "Holiday Restriction: [name]". The restricting of items was first implemented with the Haunted Halloween Special Update in 2009.
Equipping an item with a Holiday restriction while that Holiday is not active will result in the item simply not appearing in the game world.
Halloween[]
The first holiday introduced to Team Fortress 2, the Halloween Holiday has historically taken place in the last two weeks of October and the first week of November. When the Halloween Holiday is in effect, Haunted Halloween Gift will spawn on Mann Manor, Eyeaduct, and Ghost Fort.
