The Eureka Effect is a melee weapon for the Engineer. It is a retro-futuristic pipe wrench with a team-colored handle and an atomic symbol etched into the top of it. A spiral antenna, not unlike a Tesla coil, is attached to the head. A switch near the top of the grip is connected to a red wire that is plugged into the bottom of the antenna.

Functions[]

This weapon has the same damage, swing rate, repair per hit on buildings, ammo resupplied per hit, and rockets resupplied per hit. This weapon, on taunt (default G) or reload (default R) will teleport the engineer to spawn or teleporter. Also, the taunt can be interrupted if the player is pushed into the air or water. The taunt stops immediately and has no other effect. This weapon makes it so that the player recieves 20% less metal from ammo boxes. Small ammo boxes will give 25 metal instead of 40, normal ammo boxes will give 80 instead of 100, and large ammo boxes will give 160 metal instead of 200. Teleporters will now cost 50% less metal, being 25 metal to build instead of 50.

History[]

  • On December 15, 2011, The Eureka Effect was released in TF2.
  • On June 11, 2014, the Eureka Effect was nerfed, as his buildings cost twice as much to upgrade and upgrade rates were decreased by 50%. However, players can move their buildings while equipping the Eureka Effect. It also added the choice of teleporting to your teleporter exit instead of just your spawn.
  • On July 2, 2015, the Eureka Effect's penalties were all erased. The rate of speeding up the deployment of your buildings were reduced by 50%. Players also recieved 50% less metal from ammo boxes.
